The A2 would more than likely fill the bill for both. A standard butt stock from and M16 A1 rifle may be fitted to either the M16 A2 or M16 A4.ġ. The sling swivel can attach to the front ferrule of the handguard or the front tip of the tube in accordance with rule 6.2.3. A standard handguard or tube without an accessory rail must be used. The carry handle must be attached to the rifle in such a way that the location of the handle and rear sight corresponds with the carry handle and sight location on the M16 A2. If an M16 A4 or commercial equivalent rifle with a removable carry handle is used, the rifle must be equipped with a carry handle and rear sight that has the same configuration as the carry handle on the M16 A2 (height, type of sight, etc). I'm trying to avoid having to buy a second 20" AR if practical/possible. Would it be realistic to think this NM rifle could fulfill both the DCM match requirements and my 20" optic/bipod/butt stock recreational needs?Ī) is it possible to "Convert" the NM into said optic equipped rifle?ī) if it is possible, is it practical to think this could/would be done? or would one quickly tire of the conversion business and just get a second 20" AR's and equip it as such? but I would like to have a rifle that I could play around with optics, bipods, and adjustable target stocks as well (non dcm match use). The dcm/cmp rules don't allow optics, target buttstocks, rails etc.

Which of these two rifles would be the best choice for my application? Is this "600 yard" sight on the A4 all it's cracked up to be? As a practical matter would it make much of a difference to your average casual competitor? On the other hand it is only +$50 or so.Ģ. I'd like to get the groups input on a couple of questions I had on this issue.ġ. Website says this rifle is a $50 up tick. It looks to have the same carry handle/rear sight options at the A2 although the website does not specify that they are "hooded" like the A2. A4 that appears to be the same except it is claimed to have a "true 0-600 yard cable carry handle". And a 1/4x1/4 min w/ same aperture options.ī. A2 that has the following rear sight options. It appears the NM is offered in two flavors:Ī. In addition, my club has benchrest highpower matches as well that this rifle might work ok for? The matches are usually run at the 200 yard mark with reduced targets, though sometimes it is changed up an they run at 300 yards (max at this range).

Also have an M1 that will be used occasionally as well. I'd like to get involved with my clubs DCM/CMP highpower position shooting matches and am considering the purchase of a RRA NM rifle for this purpose.
